Hall & Oates

Hall & OatesConsidered among the foremost proponents of "Blue Eyed Soul", Daryl Hall and John Oates met in college, and paired up in the early seventies, resulting in one of the smoothest, tightest R&B-flavored pop ensembles around, and one of the sharpest songwriting teams outside of Motown and the Brill Building.

Over the next twenty years they regularly provided such musical touchstones as She's Gone, Sara Smile, I Can't Go For That (No Can Do), and Maneater. Their music was danceable, yet substantial enough for pure listening enjoyment, and their songs lent an atmosphere of sophistication to prom nights everywhere.

The duo have had their solo projects, but on top of all that, and after all these years, the team still endures. Perhaps the fact that it is hard to listen to their music without smiling is reason enough.
